2010年3月9日BlueLock から vCloud Express が 3月25日に General Availability (GA) になるというメールがきました。
ようやく動き始めたようです。
vCloud Express を提供しているプロバイダは以下の通り

2010年3月3日EMC の 著名なブロガーである Chuck Hollis 氏の記事は切れ味があり、いつも楽しみにしているのですが、すこしツッコミを入れてみたいと思います。彼のクラウドの定義
By “cloud”, I mean any next-generation IT environment that’s (1) built differently — dynamic pools of virtualized resources, (2) operated differently — purpose-built zero-touch or low-touch operational models, and (3) consumed conveniently — use of resource includes pay-for-use models, or other forms of convenient consumption.
シンプルで本質を捉えているとおもいますが、一点だけ、
(1) built differently — dynamic pools of virtualized IT resources
Bare metal cloud を標榜している、NewServers は、サーバ仮想化を使っていませんが、立派にクラウドだとおもいます。(ただし、内外部通信とストレージエリアのネットワークは仮想化しているハズです)

(追記) 実際に xenstore-ls したら、Permission Denied になったのですが、下記のコメントがありました。
Right, I should have written about xenstore-ls a bit more. XenStore only allows access to the branch related to your own domain, but since we don’t know the exact domain id, we have to “bruteforce” it. For example: for i in `seq 1 500`; do xenstore-ls /local/domain/$i; done. For a certain $i you get the dump of your VM config. You may have to adjust the range (I also had one domain id in the 2000 range). After that you can get more information about the vbds and vifs by performing a xenstore-ls on their paths.

iPad : The Cloud-Device for the rest of us.
2010年1月29日iPad わくわくします。初代 Macintosh の登場と同じ衝撃を感じます。Mac は Computer を普通の人に開放しました。iPad はさらにさらに進んでいると思います。クラウドサービスを普通の人に開放するデバイス = iPad.
最初に iPad を見たときに、年老いた母に買ってあげたいと思いました。そうなんです。これが iPad なのです。
今回の発表には無かったんですが Apple TV と連携するのは当然でしょうね。
